Project Overview

The Indigenous Energy Exchange (IEX) SuperGrid is an innovative capacity-building & regulatory advocacy initiative designed to empower Indigenous communities across Turtle Island to develop a Borderless SuperGrid and lead the Energy Transition.

Our Vision

Develop a well-integrated Interprovincial Electricity grid which is Indigenous-led ensuring energy security and independence to First Nation communities and the country.

Objectives

Advance Indigenous energy sovereignty through community engagement, regulatory assessment, e-learning development, and capacity building across 4 provinces.

E-learning modules, capacity-building initiatives, in-person workshops, and regulatory advocacy efforts for Indigenous-led energy projects.

Engagement of at least 10 First Nations across Turtle Island in the project

Indigenous Energy Exchange Workshop

Regulatory Study

Assessment of existing regulatory frameworks and identification of regulatory gaps across 4 provinces to develop distributed energy projects and inter-provincial electricity trade

E-learning Modules

Develop 3 E-learning modules on how communities can develop renewable/solar projects:

Capacity Building Programs

Conduct 3 capacity building programs for interested First Nations communities through webinars

Regulatory Advocacy

Regulatory advocacy based on regulatory study recommendations to support Indigenous energy development
